MyMedicalFuture Staffer Goes to Washington Blog ! 11-13-2010
Lame-Duck is here! Lame-Duck is what the session following an election is called. When the new Congress who have not been sworn into office yet can’t vote, and those not reelected can. The session is typically not very active hence the name lame-duck, but there are supposed to be a lot of votes this session. News crews covering stories about the new members of the Senate and House have been swarming all around my office this week. Yesterday, I was leaving the office and got to ride down the elevator with Greta Van Susteren. She is reporter for Fox News, and one of my favorite reporters! Later this week I will be meeting with Senator Blanche Lincoln and Senator Pryor to take photos on the steps in front of the Capitol. I’m very excited to see Senator Lincoln again; she is very down to earth and friendly. Outside of the busy Hill, I’ve been doing some more traveling! This weekend I went to Bel Air, Maryland to visit some friends. It was a great trip because it gave me a quick escape from the city. Bel Air is a quant suburb of Baltimore; there were tons of fall leaves and rolling hills! A change of scenery is just what I needed! This week, I’m gearing up for a trip to New York City! Instead of heading back to scenic Lubbock for the Thanksgiving holiday, I’m heading to the Big Apple for some holiday fun. On the agenda for my trip to NYC is Madison Square Park, Times Square, Empire State Building, Wall Street, and on Thanksgiving Day the Macy’s Parade. I have never been to New York City so I’m very excited! I’ll be sure to come back with some great stories and pictures!
