Training for low-income earners in Lubbock area

In April 2010, the State of Texas Jobs & Education for Texans (JET) fund awarded $404,000 for use by QUEST Lubbock to provide training for better jobs to low-income earners in the Lubbock area

Basic Qualifications:   18 years of age or older, GED or High School Diploma , US Citizen or Permanent Resident

Project QUEST funds will support training at South Plains College in the fields of:

  • Licensed Vocational Nurse
  • Network and Computer Systems Administrator
  • Semiconductor Processor
  • Machinist
  • Solar Energy Tech
  • Electrician

What Project QUEST Lubbock does… sponsors educational opportunities that lead to life-long financial independence. Project QUEST funds participants’ education, including tuition and books. Project QUEST works with participants from training until they reach their goal of employment. Our goal is to help graduates find employment with good salaries, benefits and opportunities for career growth.   Project QUEST Lubbock is a joint project of South Plains College & Project QUEST in San Antonio, TX, & members of the area business community in partnership with West Texas Organizing Strategy.

The program is run and funds are administered by Project QUEST of San Antonio, a nationally recognized 501 (c)(3) workforce training and economic development initiative.  (See www.questsa.org.)  QUEST Lubbock is a satellite project of Project QUEST of San Antonio.     The West Texas Organizing Strategy, a local coalition of congregations and other groups working for change, collaborated with sister organizations across the state; Texas legislators; and Susan Combs, State Comptroller, in developing the JET fund, and is cooperating with QUEST Lubbock in implementing the program.
